We now have a colony of Leafcutter ants set up in the shop !
They are set up in two, all glass tanks with surrounding moving water moats (to stop them escaping).
One tank holds the nest, it is connected to the other tank by clear plastic tubing.
The second tank is used only to provide "food items" for the ants,
They leave the nest, go through the plastic tubing to the food tank and then carry the items back to the nest tank.
The ants then grow a fungus on the various plant matter which they eat.
We have one colony for display purposes but we can also supply them - please contact us for details.
